Hello, my name is Christina.

I am so happy to have you stop by, and hope you will join me in journeying deeper into Divine Presence through contemplative reading and practice.

A fifth generation San Diegan, I have spent the majority of my life living alongside the ocean. Reflecting back, the ocean is likely what first led me into contemplative spirituality. It gave me an experience of union at a young age: being absorbed into something greater than myself that is mysterious, awe inducing, and embodying peace. Today I continue to experience this sense of union in nature, yoga, poetry, and through writing.

I was born into a Christian home and am steeped in the tradition. I love my tradition’s sacred scriptures, rituals, and belief in God’s Incarnation through Jesus. As I have traveled on my spiritual path, I have encountered Divine Presence through many expressions of spirituality. I consider myself to be part of the Perennial Tradition as introduced to me by Richard Rohr. This tradition says inherent to all of the world’s religions and philosophies is a belief in and longing for Divine Reality. The final goal of existence is union with Divinity. I have identified this union as my heart’s true longing, and I experience Divine Love as saturating and connecting us all. We are living inside it and it is living inside us!

I completed my BA in Literature (Pepperdine University) and Master’s of Divinity (Fuller Theological Seminary), and took doctoral courses in Christian Spirituality (Virginia Theological Seminary). During graduate school I was confirmed in the Episcopal Church, which drew me in by the liturgy that so beautifully structures and carries the services.

I am trained in Hospital Chaplaincy (Association of Clinical Pastoral Education), Reiki (Dr. Mikao Usui Lineage), Compassion Cultivation (Stanford Medicine), and Trauma Healing (Trauma Healing Institute). I studied in Germany and Israel, and taught English in Tanzania. Before moving home to San Diego, I lived in Philadelphia as a blogger and devotional writer for a religious nonprofit.

Take a look around and stay a while, you are welcome here.

Ordinary Liturgy’s Vision and Purpose.

Ordinary Liturgy is a literary/religious corporation created to share the gift of contemplative spirituality more widely—in increasingly creative and innovative ways.

Can you imagine a movement of Divine Love igniting inside people, spreading across the globe, drawing us into union with God and one another? Ordinary Liturgy is a way to ignite God’s presence through the written word and guided practices.

Ordinary Liturgy brings together a community of readers interested or invested in spiritual reflection, rest, and growth. Sharing the same readings (even virtually) unifies us, providing strength and support in our journeys. Receiving Ordinary Liturgy’s regular offerings can become a meaningful spiritual practice in your week’s rhythms.

Why liturgy? Many spiritual traditions have sacred texts that help people pray, articulate beliefs, and enter into worship. These texts are read collectively as well as for individual devotion. In my background, these writings are called liturgies. I believe sacred words don’t have to be limited to religious settings or holy texts. Liturgy can be any of the myriad ways we are led into encounters with Divinity—a poem, an excerpt in a memoir, a reflection on a social media post, a song lyric, a mantra in a yoga class. These words light up in us, connecting us to God’s Presence.

If Ordinary Liturgy finds a way into your heart, I warmly invite you to consider becoming a financial contributor. All donations are 501(c)3 tax exempt and go directly to supporting this vision. Thank you for considering this opportunity: your contribution and your presence are both invaluable.
